The Perfect Suit
Jacket
There are three simple steps to getting a jacket that fits you perfectly:
1. Get your chest measurement right.
- Do up the middle button if it’s a three-button suit or the top button if it’s a two-button suit and pull out the front of the jacket with your finger.
- It should pull out to allow a one and a half inch gap between the jacket and your stomach ideally (two inches maximum).
2. Decide if you need a Short, Regular or Long jacket.
- When you stand up, put your hand at a right angle by your side
- Where the base of your hand touches your leg, is where the bottom of your jacket should sit.
3. The sleeve length![]()
- The jacket sleeve should be just a little shorter than your shirt sleeve length to allow a little bit of the shirt cuff to show under the suit jacket.
Two or three button jackets?
- Our three-button and two-button suits are cut from the same block so the fit is the same.
- Two-button suits show more of your shirt and tie than a three-button suit does.
Trouser
- Go for your normal trouser size - if you need a belt, you’re not wearing the right waist size.
- A three-button suit comes with pleated trousers which are a more generous fit than flat fronted ones. Two-button suit trousers are flat fronted for a slightly more modern look.
- To get the correct inside leg length, measure the leg of an existing pair of trousers or get yourself properly measured in store.
- When you put your shoes on, the bottom of the trouser leg should go to the floor.
- Trouser legs are cut on a slope; they should be lower at the back than at the front.
- Your trousers should sit comfortably on your waist
- Your trousers shouldn’t look too short when you sit down.

Very useful
Is there any way that you can inform us about the differencies in the jacket lenghts that you offer in your range? Because even if we measure our jacket length there is no way for us ( internet customers who cannot visit a store ) to know exactly which jacket should order ( Short, Regular or Long jacket )
Thank you in advance for your help!
Hey,
Was just looking at purchasing my first suit and I basically take a 42R off the rack and all my pants are a 34' or 35' (with 36' being too large typically). Following your measuring guide I was shocked to find out that I should be a 38' (measuring tapes around the waist/hips area). Given that I am currently in Canada and unable to come into a store, could you give me some insight on this issue?
Thanks in advance,
SS
Two questions regarding TML Suits :
1- my jacket size is 39, I really enjoyed finding half-size at TML as it really fits better than 40. However half-sizes are not available for waistcoats. Which size should I order ?
2- What is the weight of the cloth used by TML (Penhurst or Pically for instance) ?
Thanks for your help.
How will ladies get a perfect size. I really need to get my correct size.

Hi ChiChi,
At the moment our videos are mainly aimed at men. Hopefully sometime in the future (if there is a demand) we will look at creating similar content exclusively for women.
Do you have any specific questions I can help you on with regard to your size?
