I have to go to New York for work for a few days - how I can avoid creasing my shirts and suits when I pack?

John Francomb

The best way to avoid creasing is to roll your shirts and suits before putting them into your suitcase as this prevents any major lines and creasing.

Hang everything up as soon as you arrive at your hotel and any creases should fall out. Don’t forget to dampen your shirts before ironing to help get any creases out.

I've used the Bundle wrapping method in the past seemed to work.

Hi Martyn I'm not sure I know that method. How do you do it?

Hi Dan,

Not sure if the link (below) will work.

If not go to the onebag.com site and click on the how to pack it link.

There is a pdf of the technique. about half way down.

I use the method whenever I travel now.

Oh I should add I also hang shirts up (in particular) as soon as I get to my hotel as per the advice from John above

Question for John F... what do you mean, roll them? Do you need to fold them first and then literally roll them like a towel when you go swimming? Sounds like a video post is needed!
Hi Paul, I think I should have said ‘fold shirt and roll your trousers’ but, yes you are absolutely right – you can roll your trousers just like rolling a towel, there are also other ways to pack trousers for travel, it sort of depends on your type of luggage too. We will be doing a short video very soon on how to pack for travelling which will include: how to fold a shirt, packing your trousers and folding a jacket for relatively crease-free travel! Keep an eye on the community site for details….and thanks for your questions JohnF
