I've seen a few people wearing bow ties around London recently. Are they making a comeback?

Bow ties are definitely back in fashion. A lot of younger brands are accessorizing their collections with them and they are more visible with the celebrities too. A narrower width bow tie is the way to go.

Yes definitely. Everyone talks about bowties nowadays contary to ties which are having a small setback. However I doubt if this going to last long. Maybe a year or so. This is strictly my personal opinion.

Hi Nicos Seems like bowties are really on the up at the moment Just wondering why you think this trend would pass within a year or so?

Hi Dan, like I said it's just a personal feeling. There is a lot of fuss going on about bowties at the moment and I sense this will fade away soon. That's what history tells us.

I'm not sure I could handle my husband wearing a bow tie, I think he'd look ridiculous but I guess if someone has the confidence to pull it off it could look good...

Yes, I believe bow ties are back. I see it as a part of the return of the classics, as very often happens around smaller or deeper slowdown in economics, I guess. My son - next generation is always wiser than us, you know - just told me during the holidays, that all "old-fashion" / classical stuff are back also in fashion. What Miami Vice did for 80's, Mad Men does for this decade, he said. Even that Mad Men is mostly about ties and 60's style suites, it's still a big door-opener for more classic fashion again. I think there has been some rebirth of cufflinks during the last few years, too?

As Nico pointed out, bow ties might be gone again in couple of years. As has happened few times before. When was it last time everyone was using a bow tie? Early 90's in my case, I think. Is the Bow Tie Cycle around 15-20 yrs?

As I mentioned Mad Men, the bow ties are there as well. In small amounts but coming ;) http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/fashion/stylephile/mad-men-2.jpg

Interesting thoughts about the lifecycles of fashions weerola. I'm inclined to agree! There's some interesting thoughts on the trends into the next decade and a resurgence of 60's styles in Johns blog

Yes, good blog. Maybe John or any other guys could take even a wider/deeper focus on the trends for this decade? Shirts, patterns, ties, cufflinks, coats... This community would a perfect place to do something like that.
We're looking at posting an update on exactly that very soon....our design team have just come back from a menswear trade show in Italy showing Autumn/Winter '10 products and are buzzing with new ideas to put into our collections. Sadly I didn't make it as my flight was cancelled due to the snow!!
Sounds great! Look forward to read more, on various issues around T.M.Lewin "core" actually.

Hi, I totally agree bowties are back, however I'm really sad I can't buy one here (I mean suitable to wear every day and of course self tie one).
