Preparation is the key to looking good for your wedding!
Allow yourself plenty of time to book in your shave, haircut etc and don’t leave it all till the last minute! Brides spend months getting themselves prepared for the big day, it’s one of the most important days of their lives. They make sure every little detail is paid attention to and will be fully groomed, styled, waxed, manicured, pedicured and fake tanned… so it’s only fair for men to put a bit of effort in too! You never see a messy bride but I’ve seen a few grooms who really haven’t smartened up enough so here are my key tips for looking good on your wedding day.
1) Don’t get your hair cut on your wedding day itself! It’s always better to have a bit of time for you to style it how you want and make sure your bride is happy with the cut too. I’ve had a groom turn up at 1pm on the day of his wedding with his best man and ushers expecting to get a haircut there and then for his wedding at 4pm and he was shocked when we said we couldn’t do it!
2) Don’t have your first ever professional shave on your wedding day either! A lot of men leave grooming till the very last minute, if it’s your first ever proper shave, you don’t know how your skin will react so you need to try it out first. We suggest to grooms that they come to us 6 weeks before their wedding for a trial shave.
3) Don’t leave it until the week before your wedding to have waxing or fake tanning done. You can’t have both done at the same time as your skin needs time to recover after waxing before you can apply a fake tan. Also, you need to allow 48-hours after waxing before you go in the sun as your skin is more sensitive, so this needs to be planned ahead too if you’re going away on honeymoon.
4) Think about your hands – you will now be wearing a wedding ring and your hands will feature in photographs and get much more attention than normal, so it’s worth investing in a manicure for your special day. (If you’re going somewhere hot on holiday, a pedicure is also good to have)
