Off the cuff

The latest addition to the John Francomb range is a formal, fully fitted shirt with a unique rounded collar, making it distinct from all the other shirts we sell.

The Livorno takes its place in the John Francomb range alongside the incredibly popular, but limited edition, Sienna shirt. Like the Sienna it’s built on a fully fitted block – the most tailored cut that we offer - and features smaller than average collar and cuffs. Where it differs from the Sienna and the rest of the shirts we stock, is the rounded collar.

Follow the leading edge of the collar away from the neck and you’ll notice that collar gently curves – the edges have been rounded off. This curved design feature has also been replicated on the double cuffs.

This style of collar has its origins with the traditional penny (or club) collar, a style which peaked in the early 1900s. We’ve brought this style up to date by amending the collar so it’s not fully rounded, and a little less severe. This thread of subtlety continues all the way down to the actual collar stitching, which is much closer to the edge of the collar than you’ll find with the rest of our shirts. We’ve even made the removable plastic collar bones (included with the shirt) rounded at both ends!
